Laura Henderson vient tout juste d&rsquo;enterrer son cher \u00e9poux et&#8230; elle s&rsquo;ennuie \u00e0 mourir. Que faire de sa vie quand, \u00e0 soixante-neuf ans, on est riche, en bonne sant\u00e9, et qu&rsquo;on ne cultive aucun go\u00fbt excessif pour la nostalgie ?<br \/>\n\u00c0 la surprise g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, Mme Henderson d\u00e9cide d&rsquo;acheter un th\u00e9\u00e2tre au coeur de Soho : le Windmill. Totalement ignorante des histoires de gestion d&rsquo;une salle de spectacles, elle fait appel au talentueux Vivian Van Damm, directeur artistique et administrateur chevronn\u00e9.<br \/>\nLes deux fortes personnalit\u00e9s ne tardent pas \u00e0 se heurter, et Van Damm, choqu\u00e9 par les excentricit\u00e9s et les mauvaises mani\u00e8res de Mme Henderson, va jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 lui interdire l&rsquo;acc\u00e8s du Windmill !<br \/>\nCette \u00e9trange et fi\u00e9vreuse relation ne tardera cependant pas \u00e0 porter ses fruits. Mieux, elle bouleversera tr\u00e8s vite les frileuses habitudes du th\u00e9\u00e2tre britannique !<\/h5>\n<h5>Recently widowed well-to-do Laura Henderson is at a bit of a loose end in inter-war London. On a whim she buys the derelict Windmill theatre in the West End and persuades impresario Vivian Van Damm to run it, despite the fact the two don&rsquo;t seem to get on at all. Although their idea of a non-stop revue is at first a success, other theatres copy it and disaster looms. Laura suggests they put nudes in the show, but Van Damm points out that the Lord Chamberlain, who licenses live shows in Britain, is likely to have something to say about this.
